John Levering Maguire Jr. grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and he was the son of William John Maguire and Agnes Harrison. He was born August 18th, 1921 and later baptized that year on October 9th. He had a sister, Dorothy May Maguire, and he went to Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, PA. When WWII started, he recently turned 18 and went to work for Metlab Co. in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA.
